MARIE-JOSÉPHINE LOUISE OF SAVOY, COUNTESS OF PROVENCE
(1771-1810)
Marie-Josèphine Louise de Savoie was born in 1753 in Turin from the union of the King of Sardinia Victor-Amédée III (1726-1796) and the Infanta of Spain Marie-Antoinette (1729-1785), daughter of Philippe V d 'Spain. She obtained the title of countess of Provence following her marriage, in 1771, to Louis Stanislas Xavier, count of Provence, brother of Louis XVI and future king of France under the name of Charles X. She emigrated in 1791 with her husband. On November 13, 1810, she died, exiled, without ever having reigned.
