历史细节

AURELIA

(194-190 BC)

The years that followed the end of the Second Punic War are sometimes poorly understood. They are marked by the conflict between Rome and Antiochus III the Great, king of Syria (223-187 AC.) and Philip V of Macedonia. Antiochus suffered several checks in Greece at Thermopylae and at sea at Corcyra before being crushed at Magnesia (190 AC.). The war spread to the whole of the East. In Italy, after their victory over the Boii, Plaisance and Cremona were repopulated by Roman settlers. In 189 BC, the Roman colony of Bononia (Bologna) was founded. Our magistrate belongs to the gens Maenia. He could be either Titus Maenius, praetor in 186 BC or Caius Maenius, consul in 180 BC or Quintus Maenius, praetor in 170 BC and could be the grandfather of Publius Maenius Antiaticus.
