历史细节
ENGLAND - HENRIETTA MARIA (BOURBON) OF FRANCE
(1609-1669)
Henriette-Marie de Bourbon (1609-1669) was the daughter of Henri IV and Marie de Médicis. She married in 1625 the new king of England. She remains Catholic while the king is Anglican, which will cause many problems. Supporting her husband in his absolutist projects, opposed to Parliament, she took refuge in France after the execution of Charles I of England in 1649. She was the mother of Charles II (1630-1685) and Jacques II (1633-1688 ), kings of England, and Mary (1631-1660) who married William II of Orange (1626-1650), father of William III, future king of England (1650-1702). His youngest daughter, Henriette (1644-1670), married Philippe d'Orléans (1640-1701), brother of Louis XIV, and died in France in 1669, possibly poisoned. It was for his funeral that Bossuet pronounced his famous oration: "Madame is dying, Madame is dead".
